I had the surgical procedures (on May 22nd) to correct all the fertility problems associated with Endometriosis.  It's almost two weeks since I had the surgery and I'm still sore.  I was assured I'd heal quickly but I think Lily being home sick from school all last week didn't help.  It's hard to heal when you're cleaning up vomit....every 2 hours.  I went for my follow-up exam yesterday and was quite surprised to hear what my doctor advised.......

My fertility specialist advised that we proceed with IVF right away.  I was surprised to hear this, initially I thought we had to wait a period of 2 months (don't ask me why I thought this I just did).  He did not advise waiting as I'm going to be 42 this summer.

However, my husband is unemployed (and just entered nursing school) and we just sold our home and are moving into a temporary rental till we find a new one.....I don't think this is the time to bring a new life into the world.  I know they say you shouldn't let money dictate when you have children but I think "they" are wrong!  That's precisely what's wrong with the entire world:  no family planning!  Good lord.  I reminded my doctor that one of the benefits of getting older is increased common sense (hopefully).  He interrupted me when I explained our current situation stating, "Now is the time!"

My instincts were to just run out of his office when he said this.....after I got out of the stirrups of course.....and put my clothes back on.  That white paper gown just wouldn't last in the subway.  My instincts are generally never wrong.  So I tend to listen to them and I really don't care for doctors who don't listen.  (He was very helpful with my Endometriosis but on this front we may have to take a break.)  We ARE adopting but making another child, I'm still undecided about that one.

Have you ever faced this kind of situation??  What did you do?  Please advise.  Could use the insight.
